About the Author

Jean is a researcher and ‘history aggregator’ specializing in historical fencing treatises, and the history of late medieval Central Europe. He is an historical fencing instructor and is still (just barely) active in the tournaments circuit. Jean’s published work includes both academic historical research, and books and articles for the game industry. Jean created Codex Martialis to bring the fun and dynamism of historical fencing to tabletop games.

Sam is a regimental broadsword fencing instructor with nearly ten years experience with the Scottish basket-hilt broadsword. Sam competes in rapier, longsword, broadsword, and singlestick tournaments. Sam joined the Codex Integrum project in 2020.
